What's a King's Mark?

Dear Global Surveyors,

A family member was told by an experienced, licensed surveyor that he had a "King's mark" on his land (in New England, USA).
I can not find any information on such a thing, online anyway.
Can you tell me more about this, and how might I go about verifying such a thing?
It is a very simple rock engraving, and the surveyor said that he had never seen one before.
From what I understand, when the King 'claimed' land in what is now New England it was marked off in square miles (?) or some such dimension, presumably for land grants or sale. I guess this mark is leftover from that era.
Any information or reference citation you can provide would be great; thank you.

LQTS-522 Good Instrument / Data Fmt Not Understood

Dear Global Surveyors,

I am the recent proud owner of an LQTS-522. I have owned several total stations in the past, mostly Nikon (I worked for Nikon Surveying writing microprocessor code briefly.)

It is a surprisingly good gun. Distance measurement without a prism or other reflector is more discriminating than with your average Topcon; angles close to within optical margins (a couple / few seconds); the plate is actually rounder than in many of the Nikons I have owned.

The instrument comes with a CD that contains software to download data from the instrument, and a kind of "simulator" that can only have limited use. The download software sort of works, but writes an ascii file format that looks like other formats, but isn't. Among other things, even when the units setting on the instrument is set to US Feet, the distances downloaded are in meters. Hmm. (Yes, it would be possible to write a little C program to read in the LQTS file and turn it into a Fieldbook file, or an RW5 file, or something else lingua franca, multiplying by 3.2808.... But that is somewhat an odd affair.) I have sent e-mail to the Chinese company that makes the instrument, asking for a format specification for communication with the gun. So far to no avail.

Would there be someone out there who knows the data format specification for the LQTS-522? Who would be willing to share?

For any other questions about the instrument: Benjamin Reeve / breeve@gmail.com

10 Top Tips to Increase my Business

Why is it that one person goes out of business while the other is expanding or turning away work because they are so busy?
This is exactly what I'm seeing.
In both in my personal surveying business and with Global Surveyors we are exploding at the seams. We are so busy that its a challenge to keep up with it all.
We are experiencing a huge amount of abundance.
I am also noticing how other survey firms in my local area have next to no work at all.
Why is this?
2 survey firms - who have the same expertise, use the same equipment, practice the same procedures and yet one is booming and the other is burning.
Have you ever heard of the term" thinking in a certain way" or "doing things in a certain way".
Getting Rich, maintaining wealth and work has everything to do with the "certain way".

What is the "certain way"?
Putting it simply, you need to break free from ignorance. Break away from the thoughts of believing that there is a recession. And, holding thoughts of abundance even if you don't have it yet.

You might be really experiencing a recession and have exhausted every avenue. You may even feel like you are living in bondage and cannot escape.
What can I do?

Here are 10 useful tips.

1. Stop right this minute believing that there is a recession.
2. Start thinking about how you would like your business to be.
3. Close your eyes and imagine the feeling of the wish fullfilled.
4. Grab a business card and write on the back how you see your business to be.
5. Write the goal in the present tense.
6. Write it as if the goal has already happened.
7. Use gratitude in your statement - " I am so happy and grateful that money is coming to my surveying business from multiple sources on a continuous basis".
8. Look at this card morning and night, repeating the statement. Say it everywhere you go.
9. Repeat this process as often as you can.
10. Look for the wealth and watch it flow in.

Now, with the above process, you also need to use your will power to follow through with it and most importantly:
- stop watching negative news about the recession,
- whenever you have a conversation with someone , refuse to talk about recession.
- always keep your goal in mind
- get out the business card and read it as often as you can

One other very powerful tip.
HOLD THE IMPRESSION OF INCREASE.
Everyone is seeking increase. Everyone wants to have more in their life.
By holding the impression that you are an advancing person and that your life is getting better, you will send out a vibration which will attract more of the same.
I explain it in the link below.

I have 7 FREE lessons for you to take straight away. You'll be so happy that you got them.
http://www.thesgrprogram.com/?m=d7b5c2ee
By practicing the above methods, you will start to experience so much abundance, that you'll wonder where it has all been hiding.

I'm happy to talk about any of the above further.
